About Divya

Canadian born Divya (Debbie Fowler RYT-200) has been trained in the Sivananda style of yoga, a system stemmed in traditional Hatha yoga.  She has been teaching since 2008 and continues to deepen her practice along her yoga journey.

The Sivananda style is based on traditional Hatha yoga and includes not only physical postures but also breathing techniques, mantra chanting, study of ancient text, meditation, karma yoga (selfless service), cleansing and healthy eating.

Sivananda's teacher training course was a profound, life changing experience for Divya, inspiring her to transform her lifestyle and continue along a yogic path, honoring her teachers by learning how to guide others in the hope that they too can enjoy the lifelong wonderful benefits of yoga practice.

Encouraging students to deepen their understanding of all aspects of yoga, she teaches in a non-forceful, compassionate way. Her techniques are inspired by the wonderful teachers she has been blessed by along her journey.

Currently she is nurturing bhakti yoga (spiritual practice) learning how to play harmonium and sing devotional songs & chants.  She continues to nurture her interests in Ayurveda, Thai Yoga Massage and all aspects of yoga.

Yoga Instruction

Divya offers one to one classes, group workshops and sessions that include yogasana, pranayama, meditation, relaxation and yoga concepts.

She attends workshops and develops her skills whenever possible, continuing her education in yoga concepts and ayurvedic health.

Benefits of these ancient practices include self awareness, increased strength & flexibility, willpower, improved wellbeing, a peaceful mind and happiness.
